Elaine won the 2011 Jefferson Award for Public Service in Memphis. The award was initiated in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The mission of the The Jefferson Award is to encourage and honor individuals for their contributions to community service.
Elaine received the Upstander Award from Facing
History and Ourselves.
